Tulips and Homemade Chocolate Brownies.

Visiting the Tulip Festival in Bowral

Last weekend Dom and I headed out of the city and made our way to Bowral in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW. Every year at this time they plant one hundred thousand or more tulip bulbs in one of the parks. Over 65,000 people trek there to gaze at all the beauty and take pretty selfies. This year they are raising money for the Brain Cancer Foundation.

I took my camera with me hoping to get some nice photos that I can use as reference. It's not an easy task when there are hundreds of people milling around but I managed to get a hundred or so fairly decent shots. There was a brass band playing in a rotunda which kept Dom occupied for a little while. He would have been happier looking at boats or cars or anything with an engine.

This is one of my favourite photos of the day. I will definitely use this one to paint from.

We went last year which resulted in my first tulip painting (below).

We decided to have lunch at the same cafe we visited last year but it was closed for renovations. Damn! What to do? What to do? So we wandered a bit further and found a cafe with a gallery attached......even better than last year! It was called the Milk Factory Gallery Cafe. I got to eat and stroll through the gallery. Lucky me! We paid our money, thanked the owners and bought two home made chocolate brownies dusted with icing sugar for the ride home.
